A native of New Orleans, Jim was fascinated by the street art in the French Quarter.  At age 11, he put aside his pencil and charcoal and bought his first oil painting set.  He began painting prolifically in the “street art” model that quickly evolved into portraiture.

Jim is a graduate in Fine Arts and Design from the University of New Orleans where his portraiture took a turn to abstraction. He began marketing his paintings in the Quarter with limited success,  All of his inventory was sadly destroyed in a house fire.  In addition to numerous paintings, he lost all of his sketchbooks and photos as well as his record of art sales and clients.

After the fire, Jim focused on his retail management career where he remains today part time.  He continued to paint and exhibit in various Gulf coast shows winning several “Best of Show” awards.  As President of the Mobile Art Association, Jim organized exhibitions and introduced  policy to give greater exposure to members by showing their work in other cities along the coast.  Jim is now painting full time and filling people’s lives with brilliant color and interesting shapes.
